Abstract
Im Zentrum steht die Wissensproduktion aus einem lateinamerikanischen Blickwinkel, der Kolonialismus, europäisch moderne Ideologien und Dekolonialität in einen Zusammenhang stellt. Während Europa selbst, die mit Renaissance und Aufklärung aufkommenden modernen Ideologien als Folge einer gesellschaftlichen und ökonomischen Krise darstellt und diese als Befreiung und Wendepunkt für ein neues Zeitalter feiert, wird die Herleitung aus einem kolonialen Kontext systematisch ausgeblendet. Evolutionismus, Dualismen, Rationalität und Objektivität gepaart mit der neu etablierten Kategorie „Rasse“ dienen als Grundlage für die Vorstellung einer europäischen Überlegenheit, die den Rest der Welt für unterlegen erklärt. Durch Formen epistemischer Gewalt entwickelt sich das moderne Wissenssystem zu einem Machtmodell, dessen Strukturen bis zum heutigen Tag nichts an Relevanz verloren haben. Quijanos Konzept der „Kolonialität der Macht“ dient hierfür nicht nur als theoretischer Dreh- und Angelpunkt, sondern stellt darüber hinaus die Grundlage für eine dekoloniale Option der Wissensgenerierung dar, die Machtstrukturen entschlüsselt und ein epistemisches Modell vorschlägt, das sich von modernen Ideologien löst.

English abstract
The focus is on modern knowledge production, which is criticized as colonial from a Latin-American point of view by combining colonialism, European modern ideologies and decoloniality. Modern ideologies have been produced by Enlightenment and Renaissance and are a consequence of a social and economic crisis within Europe. While they are celebrated in Europe as liberation and turning point for a new era, the derivation from a colonial context is systematically hidden. Evolutionary, binary, rational and objective reasoning combined with the newly created category of “race” form a foundation for the notion of a European superiority that declares the rest of the world as inferior. Epistemic violence transforms the modern system of knowledge into a model of power with structures that are still relevant. Quijano’s concept „Coloniality of Power“ serves not only as a theoretical linchpin, but also as the basis for a decolonial option for generating knowledge, that decodes power structures and proposes an epistemic model detached from modern ideologies.

Katharina Schlechter, geboren 1966, lebt in Klosterneuburg. Ausbildung beim Notrufdienst der Telefonseelsorge Wien, dipl. Ehe-, Familien- und Lebensberaterin, personzentrierte Psychotherapeutin. Arbeitet bei der MS Gesellschaft Wien in den Bereichen Sozialberatung und Psychotherapie. Seit 2010 Studium der Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie in Wien. 2 erwachsene Kinder.
Forschungsinteressen: Medizinanthropologie, Organisationsanthropologie, Religion, Weltbild, Ritual.

Education at the Telephone Emergency Service in Vienna, graduate marriage, family, and general life counselor, person-centered psychotherapist. Works for the Multiple Sclerosis Society Vienna in the fields of social counseling and psychotherapy. Since 2010 studies of Social and Cultural Anthropology in Vienna. 2 grown-up children.
