Abstract
Dieser Sammelband diskutiert aktuelle Forschungsarbeiten rund um die vielfältigen Aspekte des Sexuellen. Die gewählte Metapher des “Schnittfeldes” meint dabei die vielfältigen Bereiche der Trennung und Überschneidung. Diese Schnittfelder von Sexualität erstrecken sich von öffentlichen bis zu privaten Eingriffen aller Art: von genitalen Verstümmelungen oder Verschönerungen, bevölkerungspolitischen Maßnahmen im Rahmen geburtenfördernder sowie -verhindernder Techniken, familien- sowie verwandtschafts-begründenden Strategien, sei es Adoption oder künstliche Befruchtung, bis hin zur Intimität von Sexualität und Fortpflanzung. Das weite Feld der hier diskutierten Sexualität im Schnittfeld umfasst Identitäten und Hierarchisierungen, Reproduktion, Moralvorstellungen, Selbst- und Fremdzuschreibungen, Konnotierung von sozialen Räumen und kontrollierende Körperpraktiken.

English abstract
This volume presents current researches on the multifaceted aspects of sexuality. Sexuality has areas of intersection with all kinds of cultural, public and private interventions, actions and events from genital mutilations or beautifications, population policies in context of promotion or prevention of reproduction, strategies of relation and kinship like adoption or assisted conception, to the intimacy of sexuality and procreation. The broad field of intersections of sexuality includes issues of identity, hierarchy, moral values, self and extrinsic attribution, connotation of social spaces and controlling body-practices.

Mag.a Elena Jirovsky
Kultur- und Sozialanthropologin. Von 2007 bis 2010 Stipendiatin der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften, DOC-team Stipendium für interdisziplinäre Dissertationsprojekte. Das Projekt beschäftigte sich mit Normalisierungsprozessen im Bezug auf Weibliche, Beschneidung/Genitalverstümmelung und Kosmetischer Chirurgie sowie deren Vergleichbarkeit. Zurzeit verfasst sie ihre Dissertation zum Thema Weibliche Beschneidung/Genitalverstümmelung und ihrer aktuellen Bedeutung in Bobo-Dioulasso/Burkina Faso. Ihre Forschungsinteressen sind Frauen, Körper, Geschlechterverhältnisse, Medizin, Ontologie und Kultur, ANT. Socio-cultural anthropologist. Between 2007 and 2010 awardee of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, DOC-team scholarship for interdisciplinary dissertation-projects. Her project dealt with the normalization processes in and the comparability of Female Circumcision/Genital Mutilation and Cosmetic Surgery. Currently she works on her thesis about the current signification of female circumcision/genital mutilation in Bobo-Dioulasso/Burkina Faso. Her main research interests are women, the body, gender-relations, medicine, ontology and culture, ANT. Mag.a Eva-Maria Knoll
Eva-Maria Knoll ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Institut für Sozialanthropologie (Zentrum Asienwissenschaften und Sozialanthropologie) der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften. Ihre Forschungsinteressen umfassen Tourismus-, Geschlechter- und Technologieforschung. Zurzeit arbeitet sie an ihrem Dissertationsprojekt zu Reproduktionstourismus.
Eva-Maria Knoll is a researcher at the Institute for Social Anthropology (Centre for Studies in Asian Cultures and Social Anthropology) at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Her main research interests include studies in tourism, gender and technology. She currently works on her doctoral theses on reproductive tourism.
